3 Homemade BOOST Smoothies

Hi everyone! First of all, yes, we know what your thinking-it’s a little weird to post anything about fresh ice smoothies right now. We’re aware that it’s late February not mid July, so you don’t have to worry about our insanity. Besides, it is summer in Australia, isn’t it? Anyway Australia is actually a very good segway because smoothies that we made are originally from Australian company named Boost. If you have never heard of Boost juice bars then first of all We’re sad in your behalf because their Smoothies are just so amazingly delicious! We’ll add a link here, so that you could check out yourself if there’s a juice bar near to you. By the way we’re not sponsored by them although we totally wish we were 🙂

Of course, you can make your own rip-off versions of their smoothies if you happen to live far from Boost juice bars. We checked it out ourselves and found out that many countries don’t have that awesome company yet. So this post is meant especially for you there!

But now let’s get to the business.

For Strawberry Squeeze you’ll need-

  • 300ml apple juice
  • 1/4 frozen banana
  • 5 frozen strawberries
  • 200g unflavoured (or strawberry) yoghurt
  • 1 cup ice

For Mango Magic you’ll need-

  • 300ml apple juice
  • 1/4 frozen banana
  • 1/4 mango (frozen)
  • 200g unflavoured (or vanilla) yoghurt
  • 1 cup ice

For All Berry Bang, you’ll need-

  • 300ml apple juice
  • 1/4 frozen banana
  • 100g berry mix (strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrant)
  • 200g unflavoured (or strawberry) yoghurt
  • 1 cup ice

All recipes serve for 3.

Of course these are not exactly the same or correct recipes that Boost itself uses but they do taste very similar to the real thing! Try them yourself and tell us do they taste similar to the original smoothies.

Mango Magic

Cake Hearts for Valentine’s

Yes, we know Valentine’s Day is over but Valentine’s week isn’t! Why not-make these for Valentine’s weekend or even on just regular day to show your dear ones that you love them.

You will need-

  • Cake mix (lemon)
  • Packaged glaze (lemon)
  • Sprinkles
  1. So we bought one pack of lemon cake mix from grocery store but you can make your own cake from scratch. Also you can use any cake mix that you like. It doesn’t have to be lemon flavored. Just follow the instructions on your cake mix package.
  2. After your cake is ready let it cool down and then take heart-shaped gingerbread cutter and cut out as many heart-shapes as you can from the cake.
  3. Open ready-made glaze and drizzle it onto heart-shaped cakes. Don’t forget to decorate with sprinkles of your choice.

There you have it-super easy cakes for your Valentine or friends! It could also be your last minute Valentine’s Day gift since it’s really quick and simple to make these.

EASY GARLIC THYME BREADSTICKS

Hi everyone! We’re so happy that you have clicked to our blog and you are so welcome here!

What could be better than homemade tasty and soft breadsticks? Well probably many things but since nothing better comes to my mind right now it must be high on the top. They’re perfect with Italian pasta or soup but they’re just as good without anything else too! The aroma of fresh garlic and thyme makes even the darkest day happier and will give you some Mediterranean sunshine vibe. Besides, it’s very easy to make them!

Ingredients –

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 package instant yeast
  • 2 Teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cloves chopped garlic
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 5 tablespoon oil
  • Dried thyme or rosemary

Instructions –

  1. Combine half of the flour, instant yeast, sugar, salt and garlic in large bowl.
  2. Add 2 cups of flour and mix. Don’t add too much flour because it would make the dough too dense.
  3. Cover the bowl and let it rise for 30 minutes.
  4. Take the dough out of the bowl and roll it to rectangle on floured counter. Cut out 50 thin trips with knife or pizza cutter.
  5. Take two strips and twist them to rope. Repeat that process with all the other strips as well and place them side by side to baking sheet.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F or 220°C. Rub oil over breadsticks and then sprinkle them with salt and thyme. Bake for 10 minutes.

HEART-SHAPED CINNAMON ROLLS

Valentines Day is just around the corner and everything heart-shaped should be on trend now, right? Well as you know we like to be really honest with you in everything we do so these cinnamon rolls didn’t come out exactly as beautiful as in picture from Pinterest but they taste just heavenly! Here is the example from Pinterest although we used another dough recipe.

Here is the recipe we used.

Dough-

  • 500 ml milk
  • 50 g instant yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 cup flour
  • 180 g melted butter

Cinnamon filling-

  • 80 g melted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 tbs cinnamon

Additional-

  • 1 egg whisked

Heat the milk but remove it just before boiling. Mix all dry ingredients-flour, yeast, salt and sugar-in a bowl. Add butter and milk and mix well. Knead the dough until it’s workable and doesn’t stick to your hands anymore. You might need to add some more flour. Cover and let it rise for about an hour. For cinnamon filling just mix all the ingredients – butter, sugar and cinnamon – together. After the dough has risen roll it to rectangle on floured counter or table. Brush the rolled dough evenly with cinnamon filling. Start rolling the dough from both longer sides of rectangle  until they form a heart-shape.  Brush the rolls with whisked egg. Bake cinnamon rolls at 350°F or 180°C  for 15 minutes until they’re lightly brown.

 

Easy Homemade Wiener Rolls/Corn Dogs

We have a lot of good news! If you’re a regular reader, you maybe have already noticed that over the last few weeks we have been trying to push out more material on this blog, and actually we have seen the positive effects of that – there have been massive increase of readers in the month of January. So far there have been double as many readers as there were in all previous months combined! Thank you very much! We are confident that our skills and experience in the field of blogging will grow as we start posting twice a week. Thank you all for supporting us!

All of this sounded way too formal, but now let’s go to today’s post, that is why you’re reading this post after all. Our family has a tradition to bake a lot of cakes, waffles, cookies and pies. We also make baked rolls that you might not be very familiar with. So long as we can remember our family has made wiener rolls, especially when we were smaller. They are actually similar to Corn Dogs but we prefer to call them Wiener Rolls (in English) because it sounds funnier! We usually made them when we didn’t bother to do “real” rolls. Well, if you want to know more about classical rolls click here. By the way it is especially nice to make these in summer because you don’t have to be by the oven for hours. And we all know how uncomfortable it is to bake in the heat of the summer. These homemade wiener rolls are a nice snack for birthday parties, or why not even for breakfast!

To make 15 Wiener Rolls you will need-
15 wieners (you can also use frankfurters)
500 g puff pastry dough
3 tablespoons melted butter

Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Roll out the puff pastry dough. Place the sausages evenly onto dough. Cut the dough between each wiener and form a roll. Brush the top with melted butter and put in to the oven for 7 minutes. You can eat them warm or cold that is entirely up to your preference.

These rolls will be definitely loved by both children and adults!
